There’s more to a Girl’s Hair
We came across these beautiful books and their author Tola Okogwu over on Instagram. Of course the books appealed straight away as they’re all about little girls hair.
The second, and probably most important reason to have bought these books, is that personally we want both Little Miss Hair Helper, and Master Hair Helper to be reading and viewing a DIVERSE range of storybooks. We want their frame of reference for beauty and their views of people to incorporate a wide spectrum of shape and form.
Each of these stories is beautifully illustrated, depicting the emotions of each of the characters throughout. They make for great talking points about bullying and self-confidence, talking to parents about their feelings and so on. The stories are written in rhyme, and read easily for children to identify with.
A sneak peak inside each of the stories
We hopped on to Amazon and purchased both copies – Beth’s Twists, and Hope’s Braids. We think that there are more stories to come too, so keep your eyes peeled!

What a great idea – I love the idea of breaking down stereotypes through books.
Yes! Books can be so helpful with addressing all sorts of issues:)
Sounds like such a sweet idea for a book! And the illustrations are lovely!
Oh, these look lovely. My 7 year old has struggled with bullying issues in the past. So maybe they would benefit us.
These sound brilliant. I think these would actually benefit us. We’re trying to encourage our daughter to talk about her feelings since me and her dad separated last year. They sounds really helpful. x
Oh that can be tough! Talk, talk and keep talking. All the best for you and your little one as you navigate this.
